Certified Japanese Translator and Interpreter | Shizuka Otake
I’m a bicultural Japanese-American with New York and Tokyo work experience.
Why I'm Bilingual and Bicultural
I grew up in New York, attending public school on weekdays and Japanese school on Saturdays. At home and during summers in Osaka, I was immersed in Japanese.
After graduating from college and law school, I lived and worked in Tokyo for four years.
By working in law, fashion editorial, and cosmetics, I discovered that I really enjoy helping people communicate in English and Japanese.
Since 2000, I've been an independent interpreter and translator. I work with clients from diverse fields including marketing, law, cosmetics, finance, government, and non-profits.
My favorite assignments are long-term projects where I can become a valuable team member who engages on a deep and continuing level with ongoing projects.
Clients say I'm responsive, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and easy to work with.
